 It is widely recognised that most equine sarcoids are cause by biting insects (Horse fly) which transmits the Bovine papillomavirus.
Horse flies are movement predators and do not detect there pray by smell, so no amount of fly spray will have much effect as a deterrent and as we have found, rugging  doesn't either as they tend to bite the underside of the horse/pony, even crawl under the rug and get trapped.
 Most horses/ponies will be bitten at some point but not all will develop sarcoids, even though they may have Bovine papillomavirus.
There appears to be no correlation of age, gender or breed, though younger grey horse do appear to suffer more often.
 In our opinion, sarcoids tend to affect horse/ponies with a lowered immune system, whether due to a poor start in life, underlying health issues or ageing. hence feeding to support them from the inside.

 We have had great success ridding horses/ponies of 90% of various types of sarcoids without the need more invasive procedures. 
 Feeding our Liquid Turmeric, which has been cooked to help release the active ingredient Curcumin from the Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) for higher bio-availability.
 Turmeric and especially its most active compound curcumin have many scientifically-proven health benefits, such as the potential to prevent heart disease, support liver function and prevent cancer, Allergy relief, skin conditions. It's a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and may also help improve symptoms of arthritis.
 
 List of ingredients in Sarc-Rem supplement:
 
 Turmeric powder (5.8% Curcumin)
 Curcumin extract 98%
 Freshly cracked Black pepper (for increased Bio-availabily)
 Virgin Coconut oil
 Unpasteurised Apple Cider vinegar
 Colloidal Silver (for an extra immune boost)
 
 We recommend feeding at 10ml per 100kg daily as a maintenance dose (preferably split between two feeds). If you are tackling sarcoids you can feed upto 20ml per 100kg twice daily.
As with all new feeds/supplements, start with a small dose (eg: 10ml per feed daily) and gradually increase to desired dose.
If at any time you notice loose stools, decrease the dose for a few days and then repeat. Most horses/ponies tolerate Turmeric if introduced gradually.
 
NOT SUITABLE FOR PREGNANT OR LACTATING MARES ...There is a suggestion that Turmeric can induce contractions and may cause abortion. May cause foals to scour. Sarc-Rem Topical is safe to use, so long as the treatment is applied where the foal cannot reach.
